…I want to thank all my friends, students, mentors and patrons for their continued support in 2011. The year was filled with many memorable experiences which have helped me expand my horizons, accept challenges and broaden my circle of friends.
I appreciate everyone’s continued interest in my professional artist’s life and am so happy to share with you a wonderful opportunity: I will be teaching in Italy in September 2012! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I was offered at the beginning of the month when my proposal for teaching was accepted within two hours of submitting. I wanted to surprise Colin with this and had to keep it all a secret till Christmas Day. But now it is time to share these great news and spread the word.
The workshop takes place September 26th through October 2nd near Sulmono, Abruzzo, Italy at the Abruzzo School for Creative Art. The image published with this post is a sample of what students may create during their stay at the school. I designed my workshop Capture the Essence – Experience, Internalize, Transform & Create focusing on the distressed surfaces of historical structures and textured landscapes of the region.
For anyone interested in recycling, re-purposing and incorporating unconventional materials in their textile art this class will surely be of interest. While the workshop will be a highlight of your week in Abruzzo, excursions, cooking class, wine tasting and simply internalizing all the area has to offer will be an all encompassing experience. The description, general outline and more images can be found here. Please, spread the word and tell your friends near and far! Class numbers are low (a class runs with just 5 students) which will ensure the ultimate learning experience with continued instructor feedback. And don’t forget: For anyone with German speaking friends, I can accommodate!
2011 was a great year with many wonderful experiences on the personal and professional front – 2012 will continue much the same! Wishing all of you a very happy start to 2012 – may your life be filled with health, happiness and success. I look forward to staying in touch and keeping you informed via this blog!
