Artlet update & Announcing the Winners!

It’s time! A new month brings the Artlet review and with it the slideshow featuring February’s creations. You may remember that my self-imposed theme was “red.” Red is my favorite color and I thought incorporating a little red into my 15 minute art activity each morning would be inspiring and easy. The plain truth is: After about a week of exploring “red” I became a little bored. Maybe it wasn’t cold enough this winter or possibly I was distracted by amazing sunrises with plenty of red accents.

But… a promise made is a promise kept in my rule book and I persevered. The focus was on collage with magazine images, scrap booking ephemera, and incorporating my fountain pen. Do I have a favorite? I can think of a few, however I had the biggest surprise when I detected a polar bear in the red color pool on a tag (look for February 11th Artlet in the slideshow). I had a lot of fun every morning despite the little struggles of creating something meaningful. I realized that I am very much drawn to words, as was obvious in January’s line up. But going back to words so soon would be too easy. I continue to stretch myself and have decided to incorporate fabric into the March Artlet challenge. Stay tuned and watch out for the next Artlet installment in early April!

OK, time to announce the winners of the draw! 178 individuals signed up and I  drew the following persons. I am only quoting the first part of the identification on your email address to protect your privacy – please email me with your full name and address so I can dispatch the prizes within the next few days!

  1. I just heard from Laura – after a gentle email nudge to get her address for mailing the fabric:
    “Hi, Anna,
No way!! The only other time I won something was in the 1970’s when I won a Dionne Warwick album. Thank you very much, I’m psyched!
Thanks again, you made my day!

  2. Congratulations to the winners! And I love your artlets, Anna. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I’m drawn to the ones you used fine-tipped red pen and made different patterns. And I think the strawberry collage with the spoon and fork is super cute. Very fun and inspiring way to start the day.

    • Thank you Erica! Yes, the Artlets are fun even though I struggled a bit with the red theme. Altogether they make a nice slide show and the color makes it all connect in one way or another.

I’m here, I’m here! I too am delighted to see my name in the list of prize winners. I’ll look forward to seeing the fabric and taking it home on Saturday.

I have the feeling it will be lovingly set in the “precious” catagory of my stash. Not that it won’t be used, but I have to wait for the right project to come along before I’m willing to cut it.

  4. I just heard from the Grand Prize Winner, Judy from Arnold’s Cove, NF
Here is what she said in her email:
    “Hi Anna,
I am soooooooo excited!!!! It looks like I may be the grand prize winner on your blog? I feel like I have won the lottery!!!!!
I am a huge fan of yours, of course. I thoroughly enjoy following your blog. Your work never ceases to amaze me and you do so much to inspire others. I moved into a new studio last fall and have a spot chosen to hang it already.”

Congratulations, Judy! The art piece will be safely wrapped and sent your way on Monday!

OK, let’s hear from the hand-dyed fabric winners!
