What a difference a couple of days make: My work space and home is just about ready for the Open Studio Event on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. After spending a long day tidying and cleaning, removing the odorous natural indigo dye vat and planning the refreshments in earnest I was ready to receive students’ work for their exhibition yesterday. From 9:30 am through 8:30 pm students dropped by to deliver their sketch books and finished work based on some of the design exercises from the three month session earlier this year.
I am so pleased to see everyone’s work and can’t wait to share the outcome with the visitors attending the Open House Event. Once the last student delivers her work today I will begin hanging the show on the design wall later today. Students will be in attendance off and on during the Open Studio Event to answer questions. Also, registrations will officially open for the next session. There are 5 spaces left for the January class start!
Meanwhile I am continuing my baking spree and I am making great progress. A couple more cakes to go into the oven and then I can begin the filling of various sponges. The theme that emerged this year centers around two distinct flavors, citrus and chocolate – we cannot overlook the importance of chocolate during an Open Studio or any event…
In case you have just found this blog or are checking for other details on the Open Studio Event: Artists Joan Foulston from Tugaske will be set up in our house, and Wendy Parsons from Parson’s-Dietirch Pottery from Moose Jaw will be on the screened in deck.Aside from the student exhibition in the studio I have selected a handful of small works for sale, I have pulled a stack of hand-dyed fabrics and chose the equivalent of two copy paper boxes of library books (mostly brand-new) that will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Threads and batting are fully stocked…
I have heard from numerous people around the province who have contacted me for the driving directions. I decided to post them here today in the form of a PDF, which you can download and print for your convenience. Sorry, but rural Saskatchewan is not well documented on Google Earth or Google Maps, our address does not exist officially. Our own GPS leads us astray every time we test it. So, take minute to download the Driving Directions.
That’s the update for today – looking forward to seeing you this weekend!
Anna

Hi Anna,
I took a Kantha quilting class from you 2 years ago and am interested in the design class you mentioned in this post. Is there more info posted somewhere?
Thanks!
