Once More With Feeling…

… My Kantha class at Dragonfly Fabrics in Ottawa was a great success!

A diverse group of embroiderers, fiber artists and quilters gathered yesterday at the shop on Alta Vista to explore and try the Kantha technique. The day-long workshop passed quickly while touching on the history of Indian embroidery, exploring the diversity of the simple running stitch and producing a small Kantha sample.

The photos in today’s slide show provide some insight into the progress made by all participants. Time flew by! Thank you to everyone, especially Linda, the shop owner and the enthusiastic and supportive workshop participants for making my last day in Ottawa such a memorable experience.

The Kantha workshop concluded a busy week of teaching in Eastern Ontario. We are hitching our camper to the car this morning and point the wheels westward. A stop in Algonquin Park is next on the agenda. I can’t believe our time in central and eastern Canada is coming to an end…
