Fine Craft Sales and Open Studios are winding down, the time for Christmas Parties and Guild Potlucks has arrived.
Last Saturday we took advantage of the great weather and attended the Open Studio at Parsons-Dietrich Pottery in Moose Jaw. This has become an annual tradition in our household. I love pottery! Colin and I took a wheel-throwing class two years ago: Six sessions of an “enlightened experience” for both of us. Colin was in his element – we are still using the twelve items (assorted plates, bowls and cups) he created in such a short time. I took home a small uneven bowl, a plate and the realization that I better stick to fabric and photography!
Back to last Saturday: When we arrived at the pottery studio Zack was busy putting spouts and handles on a dozen teapots. What an opportunity to observe his skilled moves – and capture them with my camera. Zack was open to my “dancing” around him to watch various steps. An hour flew by, and it was time to get my shopping done before the lights went off and the doors were locked. We selected a couple new mugs to replace those that broke during the year. I treated myself to a latte mug. My morning java on Sunday tasted as good as the first cappuccino I ever had in 1975 in Italy – it’s all about the cup!
Two potlucks are on the agenda this week. Quilters have the best gatherings, especially when food is involved… And later today I will visit a photography exhibition in Saskatoon at Circle Mall and 8th. My Emma Lake photography instructor from last summer, John Perret has a selection of his work featured till December 30th. I can’t wait to see what’s new!
And then there is the studio… I have spent a little time in my creative space over the past month. I pulled fabrics, gave the Janome 7700 a good workout and completed a brand-new piece for a call for entry. Now it’s up to the jurors. I am still working on the last Artlets of 2012. And let’s not forget my camera: I try to take it out once a day. For now I am trying to challenge myself with Christmas related themes. Stay tuned. I plan to share selected images soon!
Fantastic pics, so clever! 🙂

Thanks, Dianne! It was a great opportunity without a lot of people standing around and obstructing the “view”.

Yes Donna – It snowed all the way home. Coupled with the wind and too many trucks on the road it was a trip to remember! I enjoyed the time at the guild and catching up with members. Good times!
