After “flirting” with my new camera for a couple of days, trying to figure out settings and features, I was finally brave enough to take it out on a snowshoe excursion into the hills behind our house. Here are the first images: Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
Dear Anna: I learned just a few hours ago that another of our most treasured Norwegian family members unexpectedly departed from our world this morning – the third in the last few months. She was my age, and a very dear ‘other mother’ to our youngest daughter Lindsay during her year of school in Norway. She will be so sorely missed by our families on both sides of the ocean.
The beautiful photography in your Christmas slide show of the snow-laden trees and especially the little trail leading into the woods near your home are such a comfort. I can envisage Bjorg, who loved to cross-country ski, simply skiing away into peace and whiteness of the trail beyond. Little did you know when you took the photos and sent them along as part of your Christmas greetings that they would be, for me, such a lovely memorial of this fine woman whom we all loved for her gentle caring and the incredible strength of spirit that characterized her remarkable recovery from a serious brain bleed a few years ago. I treasure the photos for the images of her in them that I now have and that will remain in my memory. Thank you so much.
Hugs, Judith

Hi Anna,
We have a white Christmas too – but 23 degrees below is a bit harsh! What kind and model is your new camera? It takes great pictures!!!
All the best to you and your family in the New Year. We will be celebrating on a cruise ship in the Caribbean!

Hi Karen, it dipped to – 34C on Christmas Day… but the sun shone and it always makes me feel warmer than it really is.
My new camera is the Nikon D600 with a Sigma 24 – 70 mm, 2.8 lens.
All the best to you! I am sure you will ring in the 2013 in style on the cruise ship. Enjoy and soak in the sun!

Thanks, Dianne! We could use some of the sun’s heat you are experiencing… it has been well below – 30C here for the last couple of days. Happy Holidays to you and your family down under!

Merry Christmas to you as well. Gorgeous photos, and thanks so much for sending a white Christmas this way. It continues to be quite warm here, so all we’ve had was rain overnight, and blue sky now. hope you have a wonderful and of course, creative year.

Thanks, Alice! glad to share some of the winter wonderland we are enjoying! The temperature could be a bit warmer, but when the sunshine illuminates the snow the cold is relative.

Must be a Christmas present this new camera. Wow it does take good pictures. Altho I must say the old one was super too.
Have a happy day and try not to get your nose nipped as it is a chilly day out there.
Our design session is just around the corner and I am starting to look for material for my scrap book.
The best part of the day is early am. I am usually us and at it by 6:00 as it seems you are too.
Smile and give yourself a huge hug from me.
