Sincerest Thank You and Announcing a New Contest…

Portfolio 19First things first: My sincerest thank you goes to all the visitors who made their way out to my studio over the past weekend. The weather cooperated fully and feedback was very positive. With two new design classes almost filled I am happy to report that I am already thinking about 2014 and another student exhibition! The dates are June 27th – 29th, 2014. Mark your calendar and keep it in mind. If you are interested in the winter 2014 design classes, let me know very soon. I have only two spots left!

Now it is time to announce a new contest for the summer! Last year SAQA launched a new program to increase membership. I was one of the first recipients of a special thank you gift for spreading facts about the benefits of SAQA memberships. My prize was a copy of  Portfolio 19 – several attempts to ship it  were made but somehow it never reached me. Last week, the third copy was sent to me and since I have my own copy I decided to “share the wealth”.

The Prize: YOUR own copy of the SAQA Portfolio 19 (a US$ 19.95 value)

What you need to do: Check out the SAQA website. Spend some time exploring membership benefits and consider signing up as a member or renewing your membership.

Make a commitment: Become a new member or renew your membership – send a copy of your electronic receipt (obscure credit card info, please) to anna@annahergert.com, with SAQA Portfolio 19 in the subject line. Leave a comment in the section below informing me that the receipt has been forwarded. Every time I receive an official receipt via email (and your comment in the section below) I will enter the name into the draw for the book.

Contest deadline: Wednesday, July 31, 2013 midnight!!!

Good luck and have fun exploring the SAQA website! I guarantee that you will enjoy the information and featured art.

Hi Anna, thanks for the reminder about your draw. I joined SAQA a couple of weeks ago and have been waiting for the email from them – it arrived yesterday so will be on its way to you shortly. The art quilts on the website are amazing and so inpsirational. Thank you for continuing with your blog and photos – I read every one!

I’ve been an Active Member of SAQA since 2008 — largely because you urged me on, Anna! LOL! My membership is renewed online every May, so I don’t get a receipt per se; it simply shows up on my MasterCard statement. No worries; this is not about the contest, but about why I am a member, and why, now that we have a growing membership in the Western Canada Region, I think it’s so important.

For starters, I wouldn’t have taken my current Art Journey had it not been for the kick-start that SAQA gave me after I began to study with you. I have gone on to enter juried shows, group non-juried shows, to have booths at annual art shows, and even have a piece travel to Taiwan in a SAQA Trunk show! I’ve been encouraged to continue my studies, to practice, practice, practice., and to stretch — both by doing and by viewing the inspiring work of fellow artists and SAQA colleagues. I’ve attended two conferences — in Denver and Santa Fe — visiting beautiful places where the art is rich and diverse. I’ve made many good friends and strong acquaintances, and I’ve been able to do a bit of volunteering to give back.

I have a long way to go, and much to learn; I long to make art with depth and beauty that uplifts the viewer, and the opportunities, mentors, encouragement, inspiration and friendships I have found in SAQA are my greatest resources.

  5. Hey Anna, what a timely giveaway! I just chatted with the MB rep for SAQA (Dawn Piasta) by phone the other day and she was trying to convince me to join as well. I’ve been meaning to for years. So I’ve just done it! The benefits are obvious, so I joined for 3 yrs. You’ll find a copy of the receipt in your inbox. All smiles! Thanks for the nudge.
