That is light streaking!
This was a week filled with running with gel covered flashlights, “dancing” on the beach to get special patterns and setting up my camera very close to the highway while Colin drove the course four times along with intermittent regular traffic. Physical and fun, that’s how to describe these assignments.
My critiques were not as consistent as during the last two weeks, I learned a lot. Can you see why? The car light streaks received a very positive critique – weigh in with your observations of the other images in the comment section below.
The “apple” and the green swirl in the sky are awesome – great photos Anna!

Anna;
I have never heard of this, but it looks so fun, I have 2 little boys and think they may love it, can you tell me a bit more about the gel covered flashlights?

Jackie, first you need a camera that you can set to a 30 second exposure or bulb in “manual” as we’ll as a remote shutter release. Set the camera up on a sturdy tripod, focus the camera ( which is not always easy in the dark). I use a green laser pointer to help me find a spot on a tree or bush to focus on. Next tape a courted gel over a small LED flashlight and start dancing or moving in front of the camera.
This will take several tries – what you see here was recorded over 2 evenings… And most of my images did’t work out this well. Having said this, it is a great way to keep the family entertained! Have fun and send me some pictures when you have tried this technique.

Thank you so much for the instructions! One last question, ‘a courted gel’ , I googled this and didn’t find anything helpful… when you have the time can you send me a link as to where to purchase this?

Jackie, that was supposed to read “coloured gel”. My iPad decided to auto-correct without permission. To buy these gels is not necessary. In a pinch you can take clear packing tape and tint it with permanent coloured Sharpy pens. Good luck!
