Do you remember the days when we wrapped the gifts, placed them under tree and experienced that feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment? For me that feelings seems light years in the past… I spent a little time this week wrapping the gifts destined for under the tree…
…even the toys and treats for the dogs (yes, we have two now!) are wrapped and adorned with their favorite chews. For now the gifts are still in the studio – the tree is still in the box!
I am not particularly bothered by this. When I grew up we didn’t get to see the tree till Christmas Eve, and I like it that way. In the past I often set up the tree at the beginning of December and grew tired of it by the time the holidays arrived. This year I am targeting the set up for this weekend or maybe even Christmas Eve day when we have company and can make it a little event.
I am sure you didn’t really check in for my status on Christmas preparations. I promise I will make this worth your while. I am announcing a special treat for those of you interested. Let’s get right to the point. Remember this?
Nearly two years ago I shared the instructions for the “Dryer Sheet Book Cover” on this blog. At that time I heard from many and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Some comments were that they don’t use dryer sheets, or they didn’t want to make a mess with the paints… When I was asked to prepare a workshop for California for the fall I thought this book cover might be just the project for participants. I spent three weeks preparing kits for three workshops, and then in July the plans changed and my kit based classes were changed to a two-day design based workshop.
I have 25 book cover kits sitting in my studio. There are five each of autumn field gold, dusty rose, wine red, sea foam green, and prairie sky blue.
As I was quilting my Trendtex Challenge entry for 2014 this afternoon a great idea came to mind: I am going to offer these kits to the readers of this blog! Interested? Here is what you will get:
100 % wool felt base (19″ x 12″), large enough for a large book or iPad/tablet cover.
100 % quilting cotton backing, backed with fusible for easy positioning against the felt.
Six painted and fusible backed dryer sheets and the template for the Ogee or circle motif (you can choose once you begin working on the cover).
Two yards of satin ribbon to be used as either book marks or the closure for the iPad cover.
Here it is once more – the complete kit to create a book cover similar to this one:
The kit fee for each participant in the workshop would have been $ 25 (over and above the course fee). I am offering these kits to the readers of this blog for (Can.) $ 15 (includes shipping and taxes!). All you need to do is select your own threads. I provide step-by-step instructions along with the kit, and you can email me with questions anytime.
Interested? Here is what you do: Email me your name, email address and shipping address (this will be treated as confidential information and will never be shared with anyone). Please specify your color choice; I do my best to meet your request as long as your first color choice is available! I will then invoice you via PayPal – once you receive the invoice and pay it I receive notification from PayPal and will ship your kits to you immediately.
***Special Update: It is Saturday mid afternoon and I have had a healthy response to yesterday’s special offer. the kits are going fast. I have only a few kits left, namely prairie gold, seafoam green, dusty rose and one red kit. The elves are busy packing the kits for shipping on Monday. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Anna, when I saw the first photo on your blog (without reading any more) I just about ran and got a spoon. The photograph of the felt is luscious, and I am drooling. Often the colour in fabric makes me wish it was edible. Please save me a blue one if you can. Thanks Elinor
