It’s that time again, time to get ready for another design class. This coming Saturday ten new design students will claim their seats in the studio for a day of learning and idea exchanges.
I was sweeping the studio this morning, and this time I was not surprised about the amount of dust that had accumulated in just two weeks. There was proof on the design wall that this pile of dust and discarded fibers was justified. Late yesterday evening I completed a triptych for entry into an upcoming juried exhibition.
The close up images in today’s slideshow are just a teaser – they are very small details in the 20″ high and 50″ wide triptych. I challenged myself to work in an achromatic color scheme, a reflection of what surrounds me during most winter days.
I incorporated a number of materials, including distressed landscape cloth, knitted metallic threads, silk, wool, and Tencel fibers to achieve ultimate texture. So far, so good – we will have to see what the jury decides… I will keep you posted!
Now it’s time to get handouts and supplies ready for my workshop. To see what happens on Saturday make sure to check back on Sunday for an update! Have a great day and remember: Stay Creative!
I am excited already.
