Suddenly life shifted into fifth gear… The weekend was filled with typical April weather – blowing snow and cold wind, but nothing lasted long!
But no matter what the weather I am never without something to do, actually I was teaching on Sunday. A group of photographers in Limerick invited me to spend a day to learn more about composition. They didn’t have to ask me twice – I was ready with a fully updated digital presentation, art books and design forks for everyone.
The observations were keen, we are dealing with photographers after all! The discussions covering the elements and principles of design were animated ,and once I sent everyone out to explore the Opportunity Center and its surroundings each person was fully engaged. Thanks, Group of Ten for inviting me to spend Sunday with you in your amazing club space!
Images 1 and 3 were captured when we first arrived at the Limerick Opportunity Center, a converted school building that serves the community in a variety of capacities. The running water had frozen overnight in a channel along a brick pillar. The icicles were slowly melting in the early morning sunlight, covering the cedar in the perennial bed below. A sight that had to be captured with the only camera I brought along, my iPhone. Enjoy!
Such a beautiful shot. Made me want to recreate in fiber. Thanks for the inspiration.

Beautiful winter compositions Anna. A welcome post for tired eyes typing Artist statements for the “Prairies” Show.
What is a design fork?

Elinor – design forks are the L-shaped “tools” we created in the design class in Edmonton. Two of these combined create a dynamic cropping tool.
