Art Quilt Campus at St. Perter’s Abbey in Muenster is in full swing and as you can tell from the image above, everyone has settled in nicely!
The glorious colors above are a first glimpse at some of the activities that took place on day 1 of our five day gathering. Dyeing captivated most of the quilters yesterday. Above Alison, Barb and Helene are setting up the jars with the most luscious colors to cure int he heat. Wait till we rinse these fat quarters…
Above is an image of the classroom as we were moving in. A spacious, climate controlled room with large tables and windows all around! The “ohhhs” and “ahhhs” from participants confirmed that this year’s venue is worth looking at again!
But wait – the studio is one amazing room but we also have an indoor dye room that put a big smile on every dyer’s face. “No mosquitoes” and “what a great room” was the feedback all around.
Gillian and Karen are getting down to some serious dye business.
When I went looking for everyone at 4:30 pm I found a large group in the lounge. I thought everyone was enjoying a little “happy hour” cheer… but this was not so – everyone was gathered with a piece of cotton, needle and thread to try out some Shibori techniques based on the samples I had brought along.
What a motivated group! The evening concluded with our “Monday night show and share” session of which I will share images in my next post. It’s time to head over to the classroom soon ,and as we explore indigo today we will also rinse fabric and see what yesterday’s session yielded. Check back soon!
And for anyone interested in dropping by for the Open Classroom day on Thursday from 2 – 4 pm: Find the main entrance to the college, Michael Hall. Take the elevator to the second floor, turn right and head down the hallway to room # 201.

Here is the first day of Art Quit Camp in Muenster at St. Peter’s Abbey. I have not dyed for over 30 years and am just delighted with the wonderful jars of bright fabric.
