Tonight was the first time I made it outside just in time to capture the sunset. The sun was a perfect golden ball at the horizon and the mosquitoes were fierce… a couple of images and it was time to head inside.
The morning had started with eager dyers heading to the sink to rinse their “pickled” dyes.
Dyeing is a lot of fun but the rinsing part always makes one ponder and reconsider… it is a long process to achieve glorious color!
Dyeing with indigo suddenly becomes a lot more appealing…
Not everyone is deterred, Collen ceased the moment and took advantage of the quiet studio to achieve specific colors for a special project.
From gold to green to aubergine – Colleen took on the role of resident dyer for the day.
At the end of the day Mei was arranging her hand dyed fabrics for her very first quilt! The design was inspired by an exposed brick wall. Mei is not only working on her first quilt but she is proud to share that this was her first dye experience.
The group was working from early morning till close to 10 pm. Such energy and creativity – I can’t wait to see what develops tomorrow!
…And before I forget: The end of July is upon us and it is time to announce the CDA theme for the August. Ready? How does Somewhere Over the Rainbow… sound to you??? Have fun!
