I am not sure what it is with me… so often I am getting ready for a trip or workshop and before i know it, instead of packing supplies I can be found at the sewing machine or trying out new materials and techniques. This time is not much different: I am actively working on the painted quilt using Inktense pencils and blocks. I have transferred the design and outlined everything with black thread. The painting process is slow but I am excited by the possibilities so far. I doubt I will get this done in the next day but I will make a good effort to reach a point where only minimal additions are necessary before finishing this sample for my “Twisting the Landscape/Nature” workshops.
We are getting ready for five week trip, mostly holiday to the US. We are pulling our camper and our agenda is quite full. First destination, Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, on to the Four Corners Region (New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah), where we hope to visit Taos, Santa Fe, Chaco Canyon, Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, Death Valley (Nevada) and then into California. I am teaching and judging again at PIQF in Santa Clara in mid-October.
The weather here is so glorious that it will be hard to leave but I know that there is at least one long walk along the Pacific Ocean beaches in store. The camera is packed… but not much else. I have gathered the exhibition and sample quilts and the Kantha kits are ready. Colin is busy transferring Kantha eBook copies on to the small USB drives I have had custom ordered with a Kantha label… I am bringing them along for sale for the first time.
This is my supply corner for now – soon it will all be consolidated into one suitcase, easy to stow away for the trip.
Stay tuned and follow us on this trip. Can’t wait to see some special sites south of the border.
Hi Anna,
Will follow your adventures with much interest and envy.

I can imagine the pull of going to all these lovely places and staying in beautiful Saskatchewan in the fall. I look forward to seeing pictures, especially Chaco Canyon, it is the one place on your list that I have not visited but want to someday. Safe travels!

Thank you for those links Anna. I really enjoyed reading them and the pictures of course. Could almost feel the washboard road, the heat and the lukewarm water:)

Hi Anna, after you first talked about using the Inktense pencils on fabric with the stitching and white Inktense pencil as resist I found an application for my September CDA’s. Glad to hear that you are still experimenting with these, Isn’t it the way that when one has the least amount of time that is when the inspiration for something new comes along. Look forward to seeing the finished quilt.
