“Black Magic” was the Creative Daily Acts theme for October. I was a little stumped by the theme and wasn’t entirely sure how I could interpret it. I am not really a fan of Halloween having grown up in Germany this was not a custom I was exposed to till I was an adult and had moved to Canada.
This year we spent October on the road exploring the southwestern United States. On October 6th we made our way to the # 1 Highway near Cambria. As we approached this charming town we spotted signs for the annual scarecrow festival. With time to spare we turned our wheels onto Main Street and were immediately swept up in the event.
Scarecrows lined both sides of the streets and begged to be photographed. We were thrilled with the creativity exhibited and spent a couple of hours exploring the charming town with its quaint architecture. I wish we could visit the festival every year. It takes place in October and the scarecrows are up all month! I hope you enjoy this little “tour” of a small selection of the sculptures on display this year. They constitute my contribution to the CDA challenge for October 2014.

Hi Anna, the scarecrows are great. Both the scarecrows and your idea to feature them as Black Magic are very creative. What fun.
I had great costumes at my door this Halloween – older kids and teams and very creative. One came as Socrates complete with quotes to share. Another group sang a cappella and in harmony a song called “Happy Halloween.

How wonderful your Halloween must have been – we had nobody knocking on our door this year, so we had to sacrifice ourselves and eat the candy we bought…

You are so very welcome, Leona!
You have picked out my favorites! How funny… I thought of you and my friend Elinor when I captured the three ladies. They were just exquisite!
The frog was just a lot of fun and I “found” him just before we left town!
