December CDAs: Putting on the Glitz

The December theme for our 2014 CDA Challenge was “Putting on the Glitz”. What a great time I had sorting through images captured over the past three weeks whilst touring Austrian and German Christmas and Advent markets, visiting friends and relatives in their homes and admiring their decorations.

This slide show concludes my challenge to celebrate one creative act a day throughout 2014. I realize that most of my contributions were made with my camera… and not with fabric and paper. However, shortly after I committed to collaborating with Elinor Burwash to create this challenge, life (as it so often does) changed and added numerous travel and teaching stops to my already busy calendar. To stay focused I carry my camera to gather and record impressions to be used as inspiration once I return to my studio.

Just in case you have not heard about the CDA (Creative Daily Act Challenge) here are links to the last 11 months:

January – In the Bleak Mid-Winter

February – Fever

March – All that Jazz

April – Green

May – Imagine…

June – Singin’ in the Rain

July – Orange Crush

August – Somewhere Over the Rainbow

September – Time Passages

October  – Black Magic

November – Fire on High

As we gather with my sister and her husband I reflect on the past twelve months, the incredible opportunities presented to me, the wonderful and creative people I have met, the new friends I have made across Canada and the US and Europe. I am grateful for these opportunities and the new connections. Thank you everyone! I want to wish all of you a wonderful evening and may 2015 continue to bring you love, health, happiness and prosperity!

Hi Anna, I feel so fortunate to have met you this year at PIQF for your 2 day embellishment class. I took your suggestions for my surf board quilt to heart and hope I’m technically able to send a photo when it’s complete. I also re-evaluated my interest in the sit down Gammel quilting machine; and with my husbands encouragement, we made a down payment on the new Bernina table machine that I haven’t even seen. It should arrive in April and I know I’ll love every minute as I learn to use it. Thank you for your input on these machines; I’m so happy I made this choice. Happy New Year!!!
