This is my friend Gillian McDougald. Gillian has had a very busy year preparing for her Featured Quilter Exhibition at the 2015 Saskatoon Quilt Guild Show.
There is still time to meet Gillian in person at the Saskatoon Quilt Guild Show which closes later this afternoon. When you drop by her booth, tell her Anna sent you! Here is a little story in images how Thursday was spent leading up to the radiant picture above…
We arrived at Prairielands Park just around 8 am and Gillian was already busy unrolling her quilts to audition them in their spaces.
It didn’t take long to get the larger quilts up.
Gillian’s latest work involved making portraits in fabric of her six grand children. Here is the last one…

And there is never a lack of colour! Gillian LOVES colour!
Allan, the proud husband of 50 years captures the exhibition to add to the beautiful memories he and Gillian have made over a lifetime together.

Meanwhile Debbie and Terry are making thier contribution to the quilt show. Countless flower arrangements complement the show stopper!
Gillian’s custom arrangement created by Debbie and Terry brightens up the exhibition space even more!
And then the evening arrives. Saskatoon knows just how to honour their many members who contribute thier stunning quilts and countless hours of volunteer work to get to this gala event.

Thanks for all these pics Anna. Everyone should have friends like yourself, Gillian and Deb. I was not at the gala but there in spirit. Saw the show the next day and loved Gill and all of her work. We need a design class again so we can travel to your studio and have all the fun we had travelling and making art. Deb and I traversed the show together and I learned a lot again from her. Take care. We need to have an afternoon with the 5 of us again this winter. Will definitely try to set that up. Leona

Having seen some of Gillian’s work at AQC and seeing your pictures, It was almost like being there…. I saw some familiar faces which made this special for me. Thanks Anna for giving us a snapshot of what must have been an incredible night for Gillian.
