…from a friend reminded me that I have been rather neglectful of the blog. A post is long overdue. However, without much to report I wasn’t sure if any of you are particularly interested in my boring activities at the moment…
My last post had some imagery of the ice formations lining the shore of Buffalo Pound Lake. Since then I have turned my energy and focus to our house. For the past two years I had intended to freshen the walls and apply some new paint colors. However, I loved my red feature walls so much that no matter what, I had trouble choosing an alternative. I finally took the plunge, purchased several gallons of “Moth Wing” and “Eskimo Boot” to give the main living area of the house a fresh look. I am nearing the end of the painting sessions. The final coatĀ will be applied to the last wall tomorrow morning when the light is optimal.
But life is not all painting, cleaning and purging. On Monday I took advantage of the great weather we have been enjoying here in Saskatchewan. I revisited the lake shore where I discovered the amazing natural ice sculptures only one week ago. The sculptures had melted for the most part, and the lake ice had cracked and shifted. I loved the formations that presented themselves. I was in luck: I had chosen the best time for the lighting conditions… It looks more like spring than late fall, don’t you agree? The images in today’s gallery were captured during this brief escape from the paint pots and brushes.
Tomorrow evening I will attend the opening of the Annual Winter Exhibition of the Moose Jaw Art Guild. I submitted two photographs this year and I look forward to the feedback from peers and the gallery curator.
Despite not spending much time in the studio this week, I feel I have been creative exercising my interior decorating muscle. I only wish I had one or two of the helpers the HGTV decorators employ…
These photos are absolutely awesome Anna, capturing the beauty of ice formations in exquisite detail. I especially admire the first photo which, to me, instantly resembled a big beautiful fish leaping out of the frigid water. Thank you so much for returning to the shore to photograph these creations of nature and for posting them for us to enjoy. What a treat and inspiration!

It was a surreal experience, Helene. The light didn’t last nearly long enough.
