Four years ago I made a commitment: I had been blogging for nearly two years on my website that was hosted by Apple. With changes in the foreseeable future and Apple terminating web hosting I took the plunge… I moved over to WordPress and after an initial four slightly frustrating hours trying to set up this site I was on my new path.
It often feels as if I just started blogging yesterday. But all I have to do is check my blog post history and I realize that I have been at it for a while. In fact, not only do I celebrate four full years on WordPress blogging today, this is the 550th post I have made to date. I never envisioned my journey to be continuous when I pulled up that template and began to insert images on December 6th, 2011.
It is true what I have read over the years: “Five minutes of writing a day leads to results.” I have spent anywhere from five minutes to three hours on various posts. The posts that feature educational materials (writing and images) take much longer. But the posts that I am able to launch within a short time span generate the most interest… (comments and visitors) go figure!
At every anniversary I evaluate what the future may bring and what I am able and willing to invest. I am committed to continue blogging for the next year. Over the past 12 months I have made changes to this blog and transformed it more into a proper website. There are tabs that drop down with information about workshops and classes, and I am still working on establishing galleries of work. It was my intent to dissolve my official website (http://www.annahergert.com) but time ran out. I feel guilty as I have not updated the website in some time – it is something I have not been able to do without help which constitutes the main reason for moving to this site exclusively. For now, my calendar here is up-to-date and I am committed to posting regularly.
I want to thank everyone who has been following this blog. Your support and interest keep me going. I promise to share future work, current photos and information that pertains to art and creative activities in one way or another. One thing I am not going to do is post recipes… that promise I will keep as long as this blog continues to exist! 😉
Today’s images are from our short excursion to Carlyle, SK on Friday. We have lived in this province for 8+ years and the Annual Dickens Christmas Festival in Carlyle has beckoned us. With the absence of snow the drive there and back was pleasant and easy… On the other hand, it was difficult to get into the mood without the white stuff. I selected a few images that are intended to convey Season’s Greetings. Enjoy!
Thank you for the commitment to your blog. I do not comment often, but always enjoy reading.
