I have had the privilege to judge entries to World Quilt at the New England Quilt Show in Manchester in 2014 and 2015. (I will be missing it this year as I have had my two years in a row… so let’s see how else we can represent Canada!)

It is always an honor to see these amazing quilts up close and admire the original design, workmanship and innovation. What I noticed first and foremost: There were not many entries from Canada, in fact our country never met the minimum number of entries (10) to receive the “Best of Country Award” in 2014 and 2015! I was so disappointed!

I asked around and was informed that a new coordinator was appointed for 2016. In fact, the new Coordinator has been a long time friend of mine, and I am so very excited to help distribute the information for World Quilt & Textile 2016.

Here is what I received from Debbie MacLeod yesterday. Hot of the press, so to speak!

“The World Quilt Competition XX will be judged August 18-20, 2016 at World Quilt New England in Manchester, New Hampshire.  I am pleased to announce that I am the new Canadian Coordinator for the competition.  Contact me at quiltluverdebbie@netscape.net for an entry form.

The deadline for contest entrants to postmark or email completed entries is May 16, 2016.  You may mail your entry and images (on a CD), or scan and email your entry form to me at quiltluverdebbie@netscape.net along with one full view and one close up images of your quilt.
 
Please consider entering  and/or passing this information on to any interested quilters or guilds in your area.  There are many talented quilters living in Canada and I would like to encourage more people to enter.
