I needed some colour this morning… After a beautiful, sunny day yesterday we were greeted with a dusting of snow, grey sky and light fog over the lake. It is hard to get motivated!
Our long weekend was a busy one. It has been a while since we had a little party, so on Sunday 12 friends from Saskatoon and Moose Jaw gathered for lunch and dessert at our house. Imagine how delighted I was to read this poignant article on the importance of friends just yesterday!
This is most likely the last party we host a party here as we are preparing the house to get listed shortly. We are offering up this special spot to someone who will connect with the home and studio. We made another improvement this winter, the furnace in the garage is brand new and anyone purchasing the place is able to just move in and worry about anything.
Meanwhile, life goes on. I have been avoiding cleaning and dusting and tidying… I managed to knit a lovely wrap for myself. I saw this wrap in a store window in Germany.
Last week I checked my yarn box and managed to find some black Aran weight cotton… which I didn’t quite have enough of. So I augmented the stash with a couple of balls of acrylic (something I rarely use, but it was the only yarn that compared in weight at the local box store whose name shall remain anonymous). I cast off the project last night and am happy with the end result. My sister also loved this wrap – I am off to check the stash and see if I can find the cream color she prefers. I’ll be casting on for her wrap soon!
I am not completely avoiding work: Art Quilt Campus registrations are at healthy numbers! Week two has only 3 spots left, so if you and/or your friend(s) have been undecided, now is a good time to make that decision to come and hang out with some like-minded creative folk. Here is the link to the Art Quilt Campus page on this site. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the registration information and don’t hesitate too long… Last year we filled both weeks to the max! Hope to see some new faces – week two is a bunch of very welcoming and kind group of quilters and textile artists. Some have been coming to the event in Muenster since 2014 when we first moved to that venue and the registrations were high enough to introduce a second week.
Well, its time to get back to the regular day’s activities. Hope the sun is shining wherever you may live! Happy Tuesday!
