Calling All Canadian Quilters!

2016 World Quilt Winners

Click on the link above to see the 2016 World Quilt Winners… Here is why:

Remember the Mancuso World Quilt Competition? Every August quilters from around the world have a chance to be seen and judged by their peers in a showcase that is second to none. I have had the privilege to judge this show twice (2014 & 2015) and each time I was disappointed that Canadian quilters were under-represented!

Last year my long-time friend Debbie Macleod accepted the position of Canadian coordinator for Mancuso Show Management. And guess what? Canada was once again eligible to be considered for “Best of Country Awards”. That means that we need at least 10 quilts to be entered into the judged show.

Here is what arrived from Debbie in my inbox yesterday: “The World Quilt Competition XXI will be judged August 17-19, 2017 at World Quilt New England in Manchester, New Hampshire.  I am pleased to continue as the Canadian Coordinator for the competition.  I am attaching an entry form that I hope you will make available to your members.

The deadline for contest entrants to postmark or email completed entries is May 15, 2017.  Debbie’s contact information is on the entry form.

Please pass this information on to any interested quilters in your area.  There are many talented and accomplished quilters living in Canada and Debbie would like to encourage more people to enter.

Let’s get together and submit our best work for the world to see!!

  2. I recently got my quilt back from the 2016 show. After travelling many miles and shown in numerous venues, it’s still in very good condition. I’ll definately consider entering again.

    • That is great to hear, Jaynie! I do know first hand how well Mancuso staff takes care of each and every submission. I have volunteered several times with take down and packing. I have NO reservations submitting this quilt show organizer! Thanks for sharing your experience. It is a true vote of confidence!
