I think spring is here to stay! the relentless prairie wind today is making the ice cover on Buffalo Pound Lake break up and move from shore to shore.
There is a beauty in this that cannot be ignored. I have not been successful to capture the candle ice movement on the shore this year, but every afternoon I make sure to check out the shoreline to explore what nature has carried within lens reach.
The studio is still piled high with at quilts and the tables are bowing with the weight of books. Phone calls to buy my longarm machine and any pentograph patterns make me smile as it is obvious that the caller does not know what I have been doing for the past ten years. However, I am staying philosophical about the sale and since the last weekend was by invitation I am preparing to welcome the general public to my space this Friday and Saturday.
While my latest iPad read and the couch seem to be calling for quiet times and relaxation I had a more important task to tend to this week. Late Tuesday the proof for my Kantha Book arrived via We-Transfer. I am given one week to review the book, make corrections and minor changes. Somehow later Tuesday afternoon I encountered some unreasonable fear and decided to leave the files overnight to give my full attention to the document. What was I afraid of? It is pretty late for the publisher to change their mind and have me go back and rewrite passages and chapters, right. Well, suffice it to say – my insecurities reared their ugly head. And the accompanying email from my editor was very complimentary and full of positive affirmations…
Finally yesterday, after quiet self-convincing, I opened the files on my computer during the early afternoon hours. Aaaaannnnnd? I was so pleased to see the book with text and images in a most wonderful presentation. Check the images in the slide show today – there are two sneak-peek views of the book ends and the main title. I just finished carefully combing through the proof to look for inconsistencies and minor corrections. And sent my findings to the editor. I heard back that the final proof is forthcoming within the week and then it is off to the printers.
Just thought I would share…. Have a great rest of the day, everyone!
Thank you for the sneak peek. The pages have a wonderful impeccable appearance that is a reflection of your art. How exciting for you! Can’t wait to see a copy.

Thanks, Gillian. I also look forward to seeing the actual book. Just waiting to get a last view of the final proof before it all is sent to the printers.

Hello: Wow I didn’t realize you were selling off items. Everything around us is always changing isn’t it? I hope everything is well with you both. I am in Saskatoon at the moment. My daughter just had her second child and Andy just had stem cell therapy in Lacombe Alberta. I still haven’t bought any wool batting. I would definitely be interested in looking at buying some things. We could arrange a time at your convenience if you are still interested in selling. I am leaving for Willow Bunch next Wednesday but have to swing through Elbow and see Linda at Gallery 148 first, then continue on. Hope all is well Rita St.Amant
