It arrived yesterday… the box was waiting for me when I decided that I had packed enough boxes in the studio… What a surprise!
I sliced through the tape and what greeted me was a bottle of red wine (with a letter to congratulate me and encourage me to toast my achievement)… and below the wine, wrapped safely into newsprint, was the main player, my book. Just shy of 10 days and the second anniversary of signing the all important contract to submit a manuscript to Schiffer Publishing by Aug. 1st 2016 I am holding in my hands the finished book at the end of June 2017.
Just opening the book brings on “itchy finger”, a desire to thread a needle and reach for some light weigh fabric and start…. a new Kantha project! Thank you to the designers at Schiffer Publishing for really grasping the subject matter: The layout and design work is outstanding!
…and thank you to all who encouraged me and submitted work to be included. I could not have done without you!
I did all the photography for the book and must say, the printing has done it justice.
From several projects with step-by-step instructions…
Maggie Dickinson-Butterfield’s Hog Town Kantha
Allison Dean Cowitz and Berna Ostopovich’s work, just to showcase a few pieces from the gallery section ….
…to ideas and suggestions on how to apply the timeless running stitch in the future, I am very pleased with the book.
Inspiration Kantha is presented in hardcover and lays flat for easy reference. There is space for notes and the appendix includes motifs for stitching as well as a suggested reading list with glossary.
