Just a quick update before we set out for the Acadian Heritage Village for some sightseeing today. We arrived at de la Dune Campground near Tracadie-Sheila Thursday night and connected with our good friends Andrea and Marcel for a couple of days and evenings of catching up and sharing good food!
I am in my happy place: ten years ago during our first cross-Canada trip we stopped here for one night. We are still puzzling over how we found this campground right next to the beach! When we walked the beach the next morning in 2008 waves were rolling in, crashing onto the beach and we were fascinated by the flat sandstone rocks that seemed to be punctured with perfect holes. I created an art piece “Walking in Solitude” based on this experience. I dreamed for years of returning to this beach and I am finally here.
However, the fact to seize the moment was once again reinforced when I placed my bare feet on the warm sand. The rocks have all but disappeared. I wonder if I would find them here in early spring as the last time we visited it was early June…
No matter what, we are loving our time here. The sun shines brightly every day and the breeze that comes off the ocean is nothing compared to the Prairie winds back home.
Happy Sunday, everyone!
love it!

Our ocean does strange things as we have learned in seven years. The landscape of the beaches change with the seasons. Soon the ocean will begin taking the sand away and then next spring it will begin to bring it back. Thus the reason your rocks are gone now.
