Checking into a chapter of Canadian History

When the day begins with rain and grey skies it’s time to shift gears. We checked the website of Fortress Louisbourg and headed about 50 km east from where we are staying.

Ten years ago we tried to visit the fortress in glorious sunshine but the gates were closed as the season had not started yet… Today the weather was “authentic” as we were told and we enjoyed several hours exploring an impressive part of Canadian history. The fortress’ rebuilt section is set in the 1740s, a time when very little of the Canada we know had been explored…

Great shots that bring back wonderful memories of our visit several years ago.
