Sew Much Fun In The Studio!

I hope everyone is enjoying a creative summer. At a meeting with like-minded fibre people, the discussion turned to when individuals find themselves most productive during the year. I realized that my most creative times happen during the summer! While I spend time in the studio year-round I noticed that with bright sunshine and increased daylight hours I tend to be more creatively energized during the warmer season.

I realized today that I have not posted any updates lately. As you can see by the slideshow above I have been keeping myself busy at the sewing machine. I found a great Vogue pattern while in BC. On the way home I stopped into Fabricland in Calgary and picked up the perfect fabric… and when I got home I sequestered myself in the studio and created some lightweight summer dresses that I have been so glad to wear during the latest heatwave.

And then I found some black and b/w polka dot fabric in Regina… and the idea for a fall dress came to mind.  I didn’t waste any time and even though it doesn’t look so great on the dress form in the images, it fits perfectly and looks quite dressy.

Between the pastel coloured dresses and the black dress with jacket, I squeezed in a Modern Wall Quilt which I will share images of in a later post. An update on the hexagon quilt is also coming soon. I finished the top earlier today. I counted 2003 individual hexagons…

Hope everyone is finding time and energy to give their sewing machines humming and their fingers nimble! What is everyone working on these days?

Love the colourful dresses Anna. I am also a dressmaker, but I’m not the nice diminutive size to wear those lovely creations.
