The cookies baked for our neighbours a few days ago were delivered just this morning…
…and the braided Christmas bread with rum-soaked raisins I created was delivered at sunset yesterday to seven friends who are new to town or will be spending the holidays alone.
All the wonderful plans for small gatherings between Christmas and New Year’s have been cancelled. Covid has arrived in Parrsboro and various stages of disbelief are beginning to fuel the rumour mill. Am I concerned? Yes. Will I let it paralyze me? No. It hit home how cautious everyone is when I delivered the goodies to the neighbours this morning. Some opened the door just wide enough to reach for the cookie packages. I have had the booster and am not going to let this get me down. I made a resolution today that I will resume my daily beach walks, starting this afternoon. An outdoor eggnog tasting party invitation arrived yesterday and we are heading in that direction (Advocate Harbour) this afternoon to drop by the bonfire gathering for a few moments, extend Seasonal Greetings and leave another cookie package with the hostess before we head to the beach.
The wind is quite chilly today but the sun is shining brightly. So, what could be better than spending the afternoon of Christmas Eve on a beach? I can’t come up with anything… even a blazing fireplace with stockings bursting with gifts can’t top my time at the beach.
I would like to take the opportunity to wish all my friends and those who follow this blog a very Merry Christmas. Our tree is up, the first time in our new home… and I am so happy with the way it brightens the living room. Just the other night I experienced “hygge” for the first time in a long while.
Happy Holidays to all! Stay safe and stay well, my friends. May Santa or the Christmas Angel (or whoever delivers the presents in your neighbourhood) be good to you. Peace and Joy, Anna

Your house looks lovely Anna and I think I can smell the baking from here. I’ve spent quite a few Thanksgiving holidays at the beach (a warm beach), but never Christmas. Enjoy your walks along with the fresh air. Merry Christmas to you & Colin.
